Kaiser Medi‑Cal transitioned my son out of their mental health department because his needs are “too severe,” but he still relies on Kaiser for all medical care, including port draws.His outside psychiatrist requires regular labs for medication safety. Kaiser refuses to accept outside orders, and his PCP won’t adopt them — meaning the labs can’t be done at all.Mental health won’t help, Member Services won’t help, and we’re stuck in a loop with no one taking responsibility.Families with complex mental health needs deserve better coordination. Right now, Kaiser has no process for adopting medically necessary labs from outside psychiatrists, and it’s putting patients at risk.
