Proverbs 3:7 We’re reminded to lean on, trust in and be confident in the Lord…not to rely on our own insight or understanding. We’re not to be wise in our own eyes. These ‘things’ don’t just happen, they’re intentional. Human nature disagrees and will put up a fight…Pride and Arrogance, fly their banners, flaunting them before us, leading the charge against Humility and Faith and Trust. Which banner leads the way for us? Jehovah-nissi… the Lord is our Banner. What is reverent fear… how do we reverently fear and worship the Lord? By acknowledging His Sovereignty, His Holiness, Him as Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent. It’s as simple or complex as we make it as we follow Him. It’s remembering His way, isn’t ours, and ours isn’t His. It’s surrendering to His plan and purpose, and not blazing our own path. “The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord includes the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate“. What we don’t see is God hating the proud, the arrogant, the people who twist His Word… what we do see is He hates an attitude, a character born in darkness and displayed in the flesh. Solomon makes it clear, we can’t have a foot in both worlds. We can’t walk the path of righteousness and the path of wickedness at the same time. We choose… how can we tell if we’re walking in our own wisdom? Pride and Arrogance are subtle adversaries, hiding behind a wall of deceit and lies we tell ourselves, like justifying our sin. Lord, it’s Your Wisdom we seek. Help us to hear and know Your voice when it comes to taking our next steps. Help us to crave Your Wisdom, to hunger and thirst for it alone. To search for it as we would for hidden treasure. Thank You, Lord.
