2 Corinthians 10:5 There were a few in the Corinthian church who suspected Paul of being motivated by worldly things. In a desire to set the record straight… before he gets there, Paul explains that they don’t walk or live in the flesh, but rather their life, their warfare is on a spiritual level. Their weapons are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds in the lives of men. He wasn’t going after them personally, he was going after the one who was using them to spread lies. Paul makes it clear he denies, proves wrong, anything that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God. He and his team were the subject of false accusations. What we don’t see are spirits of Disappointment and Anger, he’s not discouraged, nor is he silent toward those who are speaking out against his ministry. He is, however, responding to the accusations, by leading every thought and purpose away, captive into the obedience of Christ. The Spirit answers the flesh in its wicked and evil intentions…with Truth. In another letter to another church, Paul tells us our battle isn’t with flesh and blood, but rather in the spiritual realm. Those in the flesh who were spreading lies and rumors were being used of the enemy to accomplish its goal, division in the church. When it comes down to it, on a personal level, the enemy is pleased when we’re divided, when we listen to lies and close the door to a spirit of Truth. Paul doesn’t suggest, he teaches that we lead every thought and purpose captive into the obedience of Christ. What does that mean? It means our emotions are subject to Truth, Pride bows down in obedience to Humility, and our next steps are directed by Love, Peace, Patience, Self Control…Kindness and Selflessness. Surrender isn’t just a one time thing… Lord, each day has a trouble of its own, help us to live in the spirit where outward situations and circumstances are nothing compared to who You are in our lives, remind us to lay our thoughts and our plans in
