Romans 8:28 Paul encourages the church at Rome and us to go deeper… deeper than we’ve ever gone before. A deeper relationship, a deeper understanding… more wisdom than ever before. To be assured of our new life lived in the spirit, to understand we can do all things through Him Who strengthens us, Who works with us to accomplish His plan in and through us. His calling isn’t random, it has purpose. His calling isn’t an accident or a mistake, it’s part of His plan. Nothing God does is random, everything He says, and does begs us to go deeper. Just as the bread, when eaten, goes deeper, becoming a part of us, fueling us with vital nutrients… strengthening us for His purpose…for His Glory. Why deeper? Are we satisfied with just scratching the surface of God‘s presence in us? In the Old Testament, Joseph’s life is a living testimony to Paul’s letter to the Romans, the intended wickedness done to him, was turned to goodness and brought God glory. Do we hear ‘voices’ in our head asking us, ‘what if I get it wrong’? Or ‘What if I’m not doing it right’? ‘What if I misunderstood what He meant’? Or ‘I… can’t, I’m not strong enough… I don’t know how…’. God‘s not asking us to solve the worlds problems, He’s not asking us to do anything He can’t do in us. And, sure, He might be able to accomplish His plan and purpose using someone else, but He chose us to bring Him glory. Our prayer begins to make sense, Lord, here we are, use us for Your glory. May it be You in us others see. And if there’s anything ‘broken’ in what we say and do, would they receive what You give them. Help us to focus on Your plan and Your will, keep us on the path of righteous living and may what we say and do bring You glory.
