I walked into my classroom, arms full of colorful bags, ready to surprise my AP Biology students before their big exam. I wanted these goodie bags to be special—something that would show them just how proud I am. But as I started filling them, I froze. Should I go with the classic 5 gum and Reese’s Take 5 bars? Or is that too predictable? I absolutely refused to do the Smarties or Lifesaver routine (I mean, how cliché can you get? 😂). My mind raced with doubt. What if the students found my choices boring? What if they thought I didn’t care enough to be creative? I felt a mix of pride, confusion, and a pinch of panic.
