Stop trying to make Jesus sound softer. 🛑I am so sick of mega-church pastors watering down the words of Jesus to make wealthy Americans feel comfortable. How many times have you heard a sermon on Jesus saying, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom"? The pastor always says, "Oh, there was a tiny gate in Jerusalem called the Needle's Eye, and the camel just had to take its baggage off to squeeze through." Wrong. Historians confirm that gate NEVER EXISTED. It was a myth fabricated in the 11th century. Jesus meant a literal, tiny metal sewing needle. He was using absurd hyperbole to say that salvation for the wealthy is physically IMPOSSIBLE on their own merits. Only God can do it.
