How an Andalusia farm shapes forestry’s future

Every summer, Auburn forestry students get more than just fieldwork—they’re welcomed to Full Circle Farm in Andalusia, where Gail and Phillip Jones turn their family’s land into a living classroom. The Joneses have weathered hurricanes, invasive species, and changing crops, but their biggest impact might be inspiring the next generation. By sharing their hands-on lessons and real-life challenges, they help students see the heart behind land stewardship. The farm’s longleaf pines now shelter rare wildlife, and the Joneses’ open-door approach sparks conversations about conservation, resilience, and what it really means to care for the land. What would you ask the Joneses if you visited? #Relationships #Andalusia #Forestry

where to go after loving andalusia’s charm?

Last summer, we spent two weeks wandering through Andalusia, Spain, and honestly, I still can’t get over those sun-soaked palaces and the way the Moorish arches caught the light at sunset. We must’ve spent an hour just staring at the Alhambra’s gardens, and I even dragged my husband to a tiny café nearby that promised the best churros in Granada—only to find out they were closed for siesta! Now, I’m itching for our next adventure, but nothing seems to measure up. Sicily keeps popping up on my list, but with all the talk about the Jubilee year, I’m worried about the crowds and whether we’ll even get to see the ancient ruins in peace. Morocco sounds tempting too, especially with its mix of history and wild landscapes, but I’ve heard mixed things about the summer heat and how overwhelming the markets can be. Has anyone else been stuck between these two places after falling in love with Andalusia? Did Sicily’s ancient sites wow you, or did Morocco’s chaos win you over? I’m torn between wanting that peaceful, old-world vibe and the thrill of something totally new. If you’ve been, what surprised you the most—good or bad? #traveladvice #andalusia #sicily #Travel
