fisherchad+FollowStop losing lures with better hook choices 🪝Been experimenting with different hook setups lately after losing way too many lures to rocks and kelp. Here's what I've figured out through trial and error: When I'm fishing rocky/shallow/reef areas, I've switched to inlines with points angled slightly inward - saves me so many snags compared to trebles. For fast predators with big mouths (think bass, pike), inlines actually work better than trebles in my experience. But smaller-mouthed fish or those that just nip at baits? Trebles definitely give better hookup rates. Straight inlines have the best overall hookup ratio, but that includes hooking every rock and weed too! What’s your experience? Which hooks do you swear by in tricky spots? #fishing #fishingtips #lurefishing #anglerlife71Share
jasonking+FollowWhy do some anglers catch & release?Genuine question—if you're not keeping the fish, what's the main reason for releasing it? Conservation, sport, or just habit? Curious to hear different perspectives. #fishing #CatchAndRelease #FishingEthics #AnglerLife 2830Share
kdiaz+FollowWhy can't I catch fish on Rooster Tails?Everyone swears by Rooster Tails, but I’ve had zero luck. Maybe it's my technique or the conditions? #fishing #FishingGear #RoosterTail #AnglerLife112147Share
kdiaz+FollowDoes a longer rod really cast farther?Generally yes, but it's not that simple! Longer rods give more leverage and line speed, but technique and rod action matter more. My 7ft medium-fast outcasts my buddy's 8ft heavy every time. #fishing #FishingTips #CastingDistance #AnglerLife2232Share
Ashlee Thomas+FollowShould Shore Bluefin Catches Be Legal? If you fish the North Carolina shore, you’ve probably heard about the epic bluefin tuna action happening within casting range—and also, the bummer news: it’s totally illegal to target or keep these fish from the shore! Only boats get the bluefin permits, leaving surfcasters in a weird spot. Shouldn’t NMFS let us report (and keep) these super rare catches? Sound off if you want to see the rules change! #fishing #bluefintuna #anglerlife #policychange #Finance60Share
