Fired for Using PTO? Ethical Concerns in the Workplace​

My husband was fired from his corporate job for “extensive absenteeism” after taking just 3 days off this year—all for medical surgeries. He informed his boss in advance, but their response was cold: “Doesn’t matter—this is an At Will State.” When he questioned if his performance was an issue, the reply was the same. We suspect the real reason was cost-cutting; he was one of the highest-paid employees, and the company was overstaffed.
