BMI May Be Wrong And BRI Makes So Much More Sense
BMI, You know, it's been the go-to forever, but it doesn't really care if your weight is muscle or fat, or where that fat is sitting on your body. It just doesn't make sense that a super muscular athlete and someone with a lot of belly fat could end up with the same BMI.
That's why I was so interested in the Body Roundness Index, or BRI. It uses your height, like BMI, but here's the smart part: it also uses your hip and waist measurements. To me, that just makes so much more sense because it can actually give you a better idea of your total fat, especially that deep belly fat around your organs, which we know can be really harmful.
When they graph the data, BRI actually creates this nice bell curve that shows all the healthy variations in people, unlike BMI's flat line that hides a lot of important differences.
What are your thoughts on this? The formula to calculate your BRI is right here👇
