Exploring Mission San Jose District: it’s more than a school!

This weekend, I invite you to take a stroll through Fremont's top-notch school district, Mission San Jose! A little background before we start: it's named after a Spanish mission in the area called Mission San Jose - 'Mission' seems to mean 'church' in Spanish! Way back when, there was a 600-mile-long royal highway (El Camino Real) along the California coast, where Spanish missionaries built 21 missions! Besides spreading their faith, these missions also served as rest and trade stations for traders and knights, kind of like modern logistics centers! Once you enter this school district, you'll find an instant sense of tranquillity, less crowd, fewer cars, fewer eateries; instead, multiple educational institutions align perfectly with the district's vibe! Craning your neck, you can spot the famous Bay Area public school, Mission San Jose High (see pic 2), where 95% of students are bright Asians and Indian-Americans! You can bet that the academic pressure is real! Of course, even underperforming families (like mine) can tour the small town without sending kids to these schools and without burning a hole in their pocket! Highly recommend these two free must-visit spots: 🚩Mission San Jose 43300 Mission Blvd, Fremont, CA 94539 A landmark Spanish mission dating back to 1797 (see pic 3)! With over 200 years of history, the white-grey walls, timber roof, statues, and ancient tombs all contribute to a uniquely eerie ambiance! 🚩Palmdale Estates 159 Washington Blvd, Fremont, CA 94539 This private garden in Tudor Style was originally built in 1915 (see pic 4). Though the main house is private property, you're free to stroll in the outdoor garden filled with intriguing plants and a pond. Fun fact: pre-pandemic, many locals held their wedding ceremonies here with the bride gracefully stepping into a horse-drawn carriage! Lastly, let's talk about food and drink--not a district's strength, sadly! #MissionSanJoseDistrict #ExploringFremont #MissionSanJose #BayAreaSchools #HistoricLandmarks #PalmdaleEstates #Tranquility #EducationalInstitutions
