Only 6 Guests Every Night 🍣 Is it good for $200?

🍣 KEN 📍 252 Divisadero St, San Francisco, CA 94117 · ▫️ It's not open for dine-in for long, so make sure to come and try it. Many years ago, this location was another sushi restaurant called ijji, which I also really liked, but unfortunately it closed. Now the place has the exact same interior, giving me a sense of nostalgia. · ▫️ The head chef came from kusakabe and has previously worked in various well-known sushi restaurants. Right before the pandemic, he took over this place and opened his own sushi restaurant. When dine-in was not allowed, they offered takeout (which they still do). Now dine-in is available, but it's usually just one round of guests each night, with only 6 seats, so reservations are not easy to make. · ▫️ The menu for the evening is $175 per person, and it's quite filling. It includes four types of sashimi, 8 pieces of nigiri, ankimo rice bowl, a hand roll, and a bowl of steamed rice. The side dishes and steamed dishes in between are all quite good, with fresh flavors. The chef has great skill in marinating different types of fish and knows how to handle the different textures. The taste tends to maintain the original flavors without excessive seasoning. · ▫️ Due to the small number of guests, the chef takes great care of each customer. It's like having a large chat session. The customers at our neighboring table that night were also food enthusiasts, and we recommended many restaurants to each other. Besides food, there was also information exchange, which was a delightful experience. #BayAreaWeekend #BayAreaLife #LifeDuringPandemic #BayAreaFood #JapaneseCuisine #ExploringJapaneseFood #HiddenGem #FoodExploration

Bay Area Weekend 🌊 Carmel/17-miles/Highly recommend bakery‼️

A one and a half-hour drive from the Bay Area, the little town of Carmel is definitely a great place to visit for the weekend. You have a string of small artsy shops downtown plus a beach nearby 🏖️ 📍 At Dametra Cafe, the grilled shrimp is wonderful! Also, the pasta is pretty good😋 Grilled lamb leg and smoked salmon are standard fare. 📍 At Portabella, it's a rare treat to try warm squid tentacles which are delicious! It's soft and hot, I don’t know why I've only had it served as a cold dish before [confused emoji R]. The pasta here is very good, and the lobster 🦞 chowder appetizer is worth a try! 📍 At Flaherty's, the American street-side seafood and brunch place, the omelette and fries are surprisingly nice~ 📍 Carmel Bakery is highly recommended‼️ It's so heartwarming to find bread that's not too sweet here, only someone who understands will know how it feels!! [crying emoji R] I, who don't usually like nuts, think the walnut cookie (?) is fragrant! I bought five to six things from here and none of them were disappointments, but I'm honestly not a fan of the berry/jam kinds 🫣 The store is open from morning till night, but most things get sold out by the evening, so it's better to go in the morning. The town is also near to one of Route 1's attractions - 17-miles, definitely worth a visit! The ticket 🎫 costs $10, and if the wind is not too strong, you can stroll around for quite some time. We weren't so lucky and caught a stormy day [disappointed emoji R]. The moment we got out of the car, the wind blew us away. Even the seaside squirrels 🐿️ were squinting because of it (picture 7). But the view was still amazing! #BayAreaWeekend #Carmel #17Miles #BakeryRecommendation #DametraCafe #Portabella #Flahertys #CarmelBakery #Route1Attraction

Bay Area Weekend | Exploring Shady Trails and Marveling at Giant Stones

This past sunny and partly cloudy Saturday, we headed over to the Redwood Forest Reserve, El Corte De Madera Creek Open Space Preserve, located close to Redwood City. The majestic redwood trees provide lots of shade, with the most stunning feature being the layered sandstone landscape and the Tafoni sandstone - a large rock created through millions of years of formation. The journey from the South Bay was breathtakingly beautiful, with the road winding through the woods, a particular stretch overlooking the Bay Area on one side and the sea on the other. 🎫 Admission is free, but visitors need to cross the road from the car park to reach the Preserve. The road is flanked by tall trees, contributing to a beautiful sight. Beware of the fast-driving cars while crossing the road, especially if you're with kids. 👉✅Tafoni Trail: This is a 4.3-mile loop with shaded paths covering over 90% of the route. We ensured we applied sunscreen despite the shadow. The elevation changes were subtle, making it a relaxing walk of about 2.5 hours. Both sides of the trail are adorned by dense redwoods with the rustling of pine trees and flowing streams for company. The lush clovers and blooming tiny blue wildflowers were a sight to behold. 👉🪨Tafoni Sandstone: Located along the Tafoni trail, a short detour allows you to see the Tafoni Sandstone up close from a viewpoint. 'Tafoni' is an Italian word meaning 'caves.' Millions of years ago, this rock was formed underwater due to tectonic activity. Its primary component is calcium carbonate, and rainwater would easily seep into the rock cracks, causing weathering over time, thus creating numerous honeycomb-like caves on the stone - a masterpiece of nature. 👀 Sun protection is advised. On hot days, the trails might swarm with non-biting flies. The trail wasn't overly crowded. We crossed paths with cyclists and families enjoying the space. If you're looking for a nice trail to walk on a hot summer day, this is a great spot. 📍Skeggs Point Parking Lot, California 35 Redwoods City, CA 94062 #BayArea #Hiking #OutdoorHiking #LifeInTheBay #WhereToGoInBayArea #Outdoor #Hiking #BayAreaWeekend #MyHikingDiary #WhereToThisWeekend #WeekendWithKids #ExpectTheGreatOutdoors #SiliconValley #LifeInSiliconValley #EatDrinkPlay #Exercise #Weekend #WeekendWithKids #DailyCycling #WeekendHiking #SummerHiking #Trail #RelaxationLifePlog #RomanticLifeDocumenter

Bay Area Weekend|Facing the sea, backed by mountains, Breakfast/Lunch 🌊

Spent a day at 📍 Harbor House Inn (fa) experiencing the full set of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The overall vibe is a brilliant combo of view➕food, complementing each other beautifully. Breakfast is complimentary when staying at the hotel. They note down your preferences and dishes the night before, and bring it to your room the next morning, waking you up to the scent of delicious food [Cute R Emoji] Compared to dinner, making a special trip for lunch might be a bit too time-consuming and tiring. ➕ Breakfast: We went for the most classic chef's selection. It was full of seaweed elements that really brought out the taste of the sea. The eggs were super delicious, incredibly soft and flavorful! Inhale deeply and you'll be filled with its scent. The scrambled eggs were absolutely tasty, not greasy at all, and pairing them with mushrooms made for a heartwarmingly satisfying breakfast. The toast was super soft; combine it with sweetly delicious freshly squeezed juice 🍹 and... love handles instantly! ➕ Lunch: For beverage, we chose grape juice from a nearby farm, really sweet and tasty. The Earl Grey Tea was full of a herbal fragrance. ✔️ We started with Crown Daisy➕Pickled Sour Plum➕Rockfish Sashimi, which was very refreshing and appetizing. ✔️ The Black Chestnut Pumpkin Soup was slightly sweet and salty, with a smooth texture, enhanced by the unique flavor of grilled mustard. ✔️ Tender codfish along with freshly picked radish slices, paired with a tangy sauce made a delicious dish. ✔️ Grilled pork neck➕pickled radish rice. The pork neck was perfectly grilled, juicy and tender; the well-seasoned grainy rice and pickled radish helped offset the greasiness. ✔️ Dessert was pineapple and hawthorn pudding, a sweet and sour delight, paired with pine needle tea, perfectly wrapping up lunch❤️. #BayAreaWeekend #HarborHouseInn #BreakfastLunch #FoodWithView #SeasideExperience #DeliciousEats #FoodieParadise #FoodieHeaven
