How I Learned to Comfort My Friend Without Making It Weird
Last week, my buddy Jake called me in tears—something I’d never seen from him before. I wanted to help, but honestly, I was terrified I’d just make things worse. So, I took a deep breath and tried to keep my own nerves in check. We found a quiet spot in the park, away from the world, and I just let him talk (and, yeah, cry it out). I didn’t try to fix anything or offer cheesy advice. I just listened, nodded, and reminded him I was there for him—no matter how ugly the cry got. Sometimes, being a good friend means being a silent cheerleader, not a problem-solver. And hey, after a while, we even managed to laugh about how terrible my comforting skills are. Turns out, just being there is enough. 🤷♂️💙
