Melissa Tirona+Follow👉 Approximately 5:20 a.m. I woke up to a smoke alarm blazing and a potential fire emergency. At the time I cannot see flames. No one else was helping and it had been going off for a hot minute No pun intended.... As a visually impaired advocate, I sprang into action.. I Have been accused way too many times that I care too much 🙏 #guiltyascharged praying first while putting my shoes on, then heading downstairs to check on neighbors..... The one that is bullying me actively stole from me and I still want to help. World that is not me that is totally #God 👉 The stove was engulfed in flames, propane involved. 💥 I yelled for Lisa," Are you okay Are you okay!?" helped ensure she was okay, and alerted other neighbors with my big speaker 🔊 mouth and struggled to use my mobile to call authorities. .... None of the other neighbors had come out yet I could actively smell smoke and something chemically...Despite being ignored initially, I #persisted. This experience @highlight highlights challenges faced by the #visually #impaired in emergencies. Reno Police Department We need better support, accessibility, and empathy.
