Pressure Cooker Cake? yeah! I succeed.
Baking a cake without an oven seemed wild at first, but using a pressure cooker actually works. I just mixed up my usual cake batter, greased a round pan, and made sure it fit inside my cooker. For my stovetop pressure cooker, I took out the gasket and whistle, spread salt on the bottom, and set a metal stand in there. Preheated it for a couple minutes, then lowered in the pan. The cake cooked on medium for a bit, then on low, and I checked it with a toothpick like always. It rose nicely and didn’t burn at all. For electric pressure cookers, just add water and use the cake setting. Adjust the temperature depending on the type of cake—lighter cakes on “Less,” denser ones on “More.” It’s pretty straightforward and the results are surprisingly good.
