The wilderness of East Bay has countless mountains that you could keep exploring forever! Home to coyotes, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes. Gonna share a wild mountain running route today: Oakland-Moraga-Castro Valley. It's so relaxing to race through it in a light small car! 1. Oakland Hill: *First Stop: Skyline Ranch 🚩5750 Redwood Rd, Oakland, CA 94619 Deep mountain horse ranch, call to inquire about private lessons or summer camp details. 1-on-1 lessons are $85 per session, summer camp is $750 a week! Afterwards, driving into the woods, you'll pass two super wild trails, watch out for rattlesnakes! Second Stop: Big Bear Staging Area Trail Third Stop: MacDonald Staging Area Trail Fourth Stop: Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park 🚩 7867 Redwood Rd, Oakland, CA 94619 Big woods area, towering redwoods, very cool, crowded with people and full facilities, you may take a bit of rest here! ⚠️At the next stop, you'll come to a crossroads. You gotta decide whether to go to Moraga or Castro-Valley! 2. To Moraga: Mountain roads are rugged and it's thrilling to either drive or bike here, offering a true sense of primal forest! First Stop: Pinehurst Staging Area Trail Second Stop: Vista Staging Area Trail VSA has a piece of Oak-Savannah-Restoration protected area. This type of tree used to be all over East Bay. That's why Oakland is called Oak-Land after all! ⛔️The Oakland-Moraga line ends here. Another great thing about mountain running is it helps dodge traffic on routes 13 and 24! 3. To Castro Valley: It's a bit more crowded here, with camping sites and golf courses.
