Jacqueline Farrell+FollowThese Cars Sipped Gas Like ChampsDid you know the most fuel-efficient cars ever sold in the US aren’t all hybrids or EVs? Some old-school gas rides like the 2016 Prius Eco and the OG Honda Insight absolutely crushed it, getting up to 58 mpg! Even the humble Geo Metro XFi from the '90s was a hypermiling legend. If you thought you needed a plug to save at the pump, think again—these gas-only cars were ahead of their time! #Cars #BuyingCar #CarFacts01Share
jwhite+FollowWhy Your Car Probably Has MacPherson StrutsEver wondered why so many cars use MacPherson struts? Turns out, it’s all about keeping things simple and cheap for automakers. The design is super straightforward—fewer parts, less weight, and it saves space under the hood. Plus, it’s easier on the wallet for manufacturers, which means more cars get this setup. Sure, there are some trade-offs, but for most rides, the benefits totally win out. Now you know what’s holding up your wheels! #Cars #CarOwnership #CarFacts00Share
RetroVibesOnly+FollowI just found out they customized FDR's 1938 Ford with a cigarette dispenser 😂It's wild how much car priorities have changed. Old cars used to be all about smoking.😂😂 A 2019 Subaru has 19 cupholders and no ashtrays. But in a vintage Mercedes, you'd find three ashtrays just for the back seats and zero cupholders. And nothing beats what President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had in his 1938 Ford. He loved smoking, so the car had a steering wheel-mounted dispenser that would automatically light a cigarette as he pulled it out. You didn't even have to press a button. A lit cigarette would just pop into a little tray. It sounds crazy, but since he had polio and used hand controls for everything, it was actually a pretty smart way to make his life easier 😂 Cute, right #CarFacts #FDR #VintageCars #WeirdInventions #History #Automotive #OldSchoolCool #CarHistory #Cars 153Share
