Christopher Gonzalez+FollowBrake Calipers: Fixed vs Floating DramaEver wondered why some cars stop on a dime while others feel mushy? It’s all about the brake calipers! Fixed calipers give you that racecar feel—firmer pedal, better heat control, and even pad wear. Floating calipers? Cheaper, easier to make, and totally fine for your daily commute. But heads up: they can wear unevenly and need regular checks. Who knew your brakes had so much personality? #Cars #CarOwnership #CarTalk20Share

schmidtgeorge+FollowTalk About These Cool Car Names That Got Totally WastedThere is just something special about a car with a real name. A performance version of the Ford Crown Victoria would have been cool no matter what but how much better did it get when Mercury chose to call it the Marauder. That is an incredible name. Sometimes though automakers use a great name on a car that doesn't live up to its name. The name Dodge Rampage evokes some kind of tough off roader. It was actually a front wheel drive unibody coupe utility based on a Charger. Its name just did not fit. In Japan after the R34 generation the Nissan Skyline name was used on various vehicles that would be sold as Infinitis. They are not necessarily bad cars but they pale in comparison to the legends from the 1990s. I also cringe at seeing the name Skyline on a crossover SUV. Then there is the Dodge Hornet. It started its life as the legendary Hudson Hornet but then the name was slapped on an overpriced hybrid econobox that literally nobody wants. The Toyota Supra is another one. It went from an all-in-house legend to something that doesn't even have a Toyota engine. It is a real shame too. #CarTalk #Cars #ClassicCars #Dodge #Nissan #Toyota #Discussion #PetPeeves 3220Share
CosmicCanvas+FollowHow My Electric Car Changed My Monthly BillsAfter switching to an electric car, I was curious (and a bit nervous) about how my monthly electric bill would change. At first, I noticed a slight increase, but it was nowhere near what I used to spend on gas. Charging mostly at home overnight helped keep costs down, and using my utility’s time-of-use plan made a big difference. If you’re thinking about making the switch, check your local rates and consider a smart charger. Anyone else notice savings or surprises after going electric? patrick16+FollowThe dumbest-looking cars of all time (according to me)Some cars are beautiful, some are functional, some are just ugly… and then there are cars that just look plain dumb. No reason. Fine there are still some reasons: 1️⃣ Amber Russian EV – A face only a tadpole could love. 2️⃣ Fiat Multipla – Like no adults were involved in the design process!! What are you, toy? 3️⃣ Youabian Puma – Honestly, the default answer to this question. 4️⃣ Gen 2 Dodge Durango – The back is fine, but that front end is like a French Bulldog with an underbite. 5️⃣ 1958–60 Dodge Trucks – Trucks with fins, tongues sticking out, and a general “What were they thinking?” vibe. Cars can be “so stupid they’re ugly” or “so ugly they’re stupid,” and these definitely fall into one (or both) categories. Which ones would you add to the list? 😂😂 #CarDesign #UglyCars #CarTalk #AutoHistory #Cars 5732Share
patrick16+FollowRemember When the Mitsubishi Eclipse Was Actually a Sports Car?It is tough for a car to stay at the top. Some cars are just legends because they were so innovative or popular or iconic. Think about cars like the Mustang or the Beetle. But keeping that kind of legacy is a whole different story. Sometimes those legendary cars get completely fumbled by a bad redesign or a lack of new ideas. 😮💨 I think the biggest fumble of an automotive legacy has to be the Mitsubishi Eclipse. The early versions of that car were so cool. They were affordable sporty coupes that just felt fast and stylish. But as the years went on the car just got bigger and heavier. I still have a soft spot for the later models but they never had the same fun feeling as the original. And now they have completely ruined the name by slapping it on a subcompact crossover. 😤 I just cannot forgive the sin of calling it the Eclipse Cross. #CarTalk #Automotive #Mitsubishi #CarEnthusiast #CarLegacy #Discussion 10Share

Since the '60s, Shelby has been supercharging Fords like the Mustang, but they’re actually a part of Carroll Shelby International. So, while they make Fords faster, they’re not in Ford’s garage. #CarTalk #ShelbySecrets #Business #EntrepreneurshipStartup #CarTalk30Share
William Jones+FollowWhich Supercharger Is Your Car’s Secret Weapon?Ever wondered why some cars sound like angry bees and others just roar? It’s all about the supercharger! Roots, centrifugal, and twin-screw superchargers each bring their own flavor to the horsepower party. Roots gives you instant grunt (and noise), centrifugal is all about high-rpm thrills, and twin-screw is the efficiency king. schmidtgeorge+FollowEV makes people more prone to car sickness? If you’ve ever felt a little nauseous in an electric car, you’re not alone! And that's true! - EVs are actually making some people sick—even those who never had motion sickness in gas-powered cars. Experts say our bodies are used to the sounds, vibrations, and gradual acceleration of combustion engines. EVs flip that on its head. They’re nearly silent, deliver instant torque from a stop, and often use one-pedal driving with regenerative braking. Without the usual engine noise or the familiar jolt of pressing the brake, your brain may struggle to anticipate movement, causing nausea. Passengers often feel it more, but even drivers can get queasy, especially with uneven throttle or braking inputs. Some researchers suggest adding “auditory motion cues” (think fake engine sounds) to help—though not everyone wants that feature. Have you ever felt sick in an EV? 😂 #EVLife #CarTalk #MotionSickness #DrivingExperience #Cars #EVs 10Share
Travis Baker MD+FollowLS vs LT: Which GM V8 Wins?LS swaps are everywhere for a reason—cheap, powerful, and super easy to mod. But GM’s newer LT engines are the high-tech evolution: think direct injection, better emissions, and more power (but at a steeper price). LS is the go-to for budget builds and endless parts, while LT is for those who want cutting-edge tech and efficiency. Both are awesome, but your wallet and goals will decide your winner! #Cars #CarOwnership #CarTalk127Share
