Panicking Before Retirement: Should I Take Social Security at 62? 😰
I'm a 62-year-old woman, and after years of working, I'm finally about to retire on August 1st. I've done all the math—between my Social Security, pension, my husband's benefits, and our savings, we should be okay. Not rich, but comfortable enough.
But now that it's time to actually apply for Social Security, I'm suddenly terrified. If I start now, I'll be locked into a lower rate for life since I'm five years away from full retirement age. The thought of missing out on more money down the road is making me second-guess everything!
The only other option is to keep working, but the extra money I'd get from waiting doesn't seem worth the stress and exhaustion. Has anyone else been in this position? Did you regret retiring and taking Social Security at 62? I could really use some advice and reassurance right now. 😟
