Okay, let me vent for a second. I landed a job as a hospital patient transporter in Texas about a month ago, thinking it’d be a solid step forward. I’m hustling five days a week, sometimes six, racking up nearly 16,000 steps a day—honestly, I don’t mind the workout since I could use it.
But then I got my first full paycheck and, no joke, it was $900 for two weeks. At $21 an hour, I thought I’d be seeing way more. Taxes, 401k, and healthcare just ate my money alive. My girlfriend even raised an eyebrow, wondering if I’m missing hours.
Is this just how adulting works, or am I getting played? I’m already firing off applications elsewhere because this just doesn’t sit right. Anyone else ever feel like their paycheck is gaslighting them? 🤔💸
