My 5.5-Year-Old’s Deer Drawings — Just Talent or
A few days ago, my daughter (5 and a half) saw a few deer while we were out for a walk. When we got home, she sat down and drew these pictures completely from memory — no references, no tracing, no lessons. Just her imagination and observation.
Each drawing tells a little story, and I was amazed by her attention to detail — the colors, the expressions, even the layout of the scenes.
She’s never taken any art classes. It’s all just from her love for drawing and the way she sees the world.
As a parent, I’m wondering:
• Is this just normal creativity for her age, or could this be a sign of real artistic talent?
• How should we support and nurture this love for drawing without turning it into pressure?
• Are there good resources or programs in the U.S. for young children who love to create?
Would love to hear your thoughts — especially from teachers, artists, or fellow parents with creative kids!
