Just saw MoneyGeek’s “15 Safest Cities in America” report, and the numbers hit hard. In 2022, crime cost the average American $2,221, and in cities with over 300K people, that jumped to $3,325—74% more than mid-sized cities.
The safest place? Thousand Oaks, CA ($241 per person). The most dangerous? Birmingham, AL ($11,392 per person).
