Eating with My Hands in an Indian Restaurant

I grew up hearing “don’t play with your food.” Then I walked into an Indian restaurant and they handed me… nothing. No fork, no spoon, just naan and rice. I watched the family at the next table tear bread, scoop curry, mix with rice—all with their hands. At first, I hesitated. Then I thought, “when in Rome…” Turns out eating with my hands made the food taste different. Warmer, closer, almost like you’re connected to it before it even hits your mouth. The spices—cumin, cardamom, chili—hit harder too. Walking out, I wondered if maybe we’ve been overthinking meals. Maybe sometimes food is supposed to be messy, human, and shared. Would you try it, or does the thought freak you out? #IndianFood #CurryLife #FoodCulture
