Dallas students face uphill climb to college

Only 13% of Dallas ISD’s 8th graders from 2013-14 have earned a degree or certificate—far below the state average. The big reason? Nearly 9 out of 10 students in Dallas ISD come from low-income families, and the data shows that economic disadvantage is a huge barrier to higher education.
