The Day I Found Out Worms Weren’t Just a Puppy Problem
I was cleaning up after Daisy one morning when I noticed something... off. I couldn’t quite tell what I was looking at, but it made my stomach turn. Could it be worms? I panicked and called the vet.
Turns out, dogs can get intestinal parasites in so many ways—sniffing or licking infected poop, walking where eggs are hiding, swallowing a flea with tapeworms, or even nursing as a puppy. Some worms are visible, but many aren’t. The vet had to test her stool to know for sure.
What really surprised me? Not every dewormer works for every type of parasite. There are roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms… and they all need different treatment.
If you ever suspect worms, don’t wait it out. Grab a stool sample and get to the vet. And yes—Daisy’s okay now, but I’ll never skip her preventives again.
