🚨 AKRON DOUBLE MURDER — SUSPECT CONFESSED TO FRIEND BEFORE TURNING HIMSELF IN Akron, Ohio — This is a heartbreaking and chaotic case. Police responded Saturday night to reports of gunfire on Wilbeth Road. 👉 “We just heard a bunch of gunshots,” a 911 caller said When officers arrived, they found a vehicle riddled with bullets that had crashed into a wooded area. ⚠️ THE VICTIMS Inside the vehicle: 👉 A 2-year-old child was pulled out unharmed 👉 12-year-old Jericho was pronounced dead at the scene 👉 His mother, 47-year-old Tania Mangual, was taken to the hospital but later died 🔫 WHAT POLICE SAY HAPPENED Investigators say the suspect, 28-year-old Brandon Casto, who lived in the same apartment complex: 👉 Opened fire on the vehicle multiple times 👉 Also shot at another woman — who survived by playing dead That witness later gave police a detailed statement. 📞 CONFESSION BEFORE ARREST Before turning himself in: 👉 Casto allegedly called friends and confessed 👉 One of those friends called 911 👉 “He called me after it happened,” the caller told dispatch Casto later surrendered in Meigs County, more than two hours away. 📍 POSSIBLE MOTIVE Police say they are still investigating but believe: 👉 The violence may have started from a dispute 👉 Possibly over parking 💔 COMMUNITY IMPACT Barberton Schools have brought in counselors for students after the loss of Jericho.
