Public charger damaged my Tesla, who should I contact??
I’ve had my Model 3 for four years with no issues. One day I plugged it into a public charger, and after just 14 seconds, the system showed “BMS terminated.” I tried again, same result. Then the car wouldn’t start at all.
I had it towed for inspection, and they found the charger had delivered an abnormal current, damaging the fuse box and relay. I contacted the charging company, but they’ve been deflecting and still haven’t given a clear answer after a month. I’m honestly getting worried.
Until today, they sent me a data report. It basically says that my charging session ended after only 14 seconds, which was too short, and that the system was still in the handshake phase, meaning the connection wasn’t actually established. They also claimed that the vehicle should have its own protection mechanism — essentially blaming my car for not protecting itself, which supposedly led to the blown fuse. They refused to acknowledge that it was their equipment’s voltage or current spike that caused the issue! But my car was definitely damaged during that charging period. What should I do if they keep ignoring me?
