Friendship first: The foundation of a serious relationship

I’ve been on dating apps and met girls who say they’re looking for a “serious relationship.” I always suggest starting as friends since we don’t really know each other yet. Surprisingly, this often leads to them stopping the conversation. I just don’t get it—how is wanting to skip the friendship stage to jump into something serious not contradictory? Samuel Richardson once said that friendship is the highest form of romantic happiness. Those girls probably think “serious” means immediate attraction or desire, but they forget that compatibility goes beyond that. I might not like their personality, or they might not like mine. If you want a happy relationship, you can’t ignore the importance of building a solid friendship first. If they’re truly interested, they’ll be willing to put in the effort. So far, I haven’t found the right person, but I’m not wasting time—I’m filtering out those who aren’t willing to work on a relationship with me. #FriendshipFirst #Dating #SeriousRelationship #Compatibility #EffortInRelationships
