Imagine moving to a new land, where the language of your heart becomes a distant echo. That’s my life now—an American-European family in Germany, watching my 8-year-old son wrestle with reading and writing in English, while German sneaks into his words like a mischievous sprite! 😅
His English classes? Let’s just say they’re more nursery rhyme than novel. Even with tutoring back in the States, he lagged behind. Now, after a year of German immersion, his English is a patchwork of accents and mixed-up letters. ‘Ch’ for ‘sh,’ ‘b’ for ‘d’—it’s a linguistic circus!
