How I Helped My Son Master English Abroad (And Survived!)
Imagine moving to a new land, where the language of your heart becomes a distant echo. That’s my life now—an American-European family in Germany, watching my 8-year-old son wrestle with reading and writing in English, while German sneaks into his words like a mischievous sprite! 😅
His English classes? Let’s just say they’re more nursery rhyme than novel. Even with tutoring back in the States, he lagged behind. Now, after a year of German immersion, his English is a patchwork of accents and mixed-up letters. ‘Ch’ for ‘sh,’ ‘b’ for ‘d’—it’s a linguistic circus!
I’ve scoured the earth (well, the internet) for help, but most resources here teach English as a second language—British style! I want him ready for American middle school, not tea with the Queen. ☕
So, fellow wanderers, what remote tools or services have truly worked for you? Share your wisdom, correct my blunders, and let’s build a bridge for our bilingual kids—one word at a time. Drop your tips below! 🌍✨
(And if you spot any mistakes, don’t hold back—my ego can take it!)
