Should I Spill the Truth in My Exit Interview? 🤔

Navigating the exit interview maze has me seriously twisted up. I just gave my two weeks’ notice at my tech job in Austin, and the real reason I’m leaving? My boss. She’s the queen of micromanagement, never had my back, and her condescending tone could make a cactus wilt. Now HR wants to know why I’m leaving, and I’m torn. Do I sugarcoat it and keep the peace, or do I finally let it all out in corporate speak? I don’t want to burn bridges, but I also feel like someone should know what’s really going on. Has anyone else been in this spot? How honest should I be? I’d love to hear your advice—because right now, I’m stuck between wanting to be professional and wanting to scream. 😅 #ExitInterview #WorkplaceAdvice #CareerDilemma #JobCareer

Should I Spill the Beans in My Exit Interview?

I'm in a bit of a pickle and could really use some advice. My boss just scheduled an exit interview for my last week, and honestly, I'm torn. I'm leaving for a leadership role at another company, but the truth is, I only started job hunting because I was frustrated with how things were run here. Now, I have feedback I want to share—about communication breakdowns, unclear expectations, and the lack of growth opportunities. But I don't want to come off as bitter or burn any bridges. Is it worth being totally honest, or should I keep things diplomatic and vague? How do you walk that fine line between helpful and harmful? Would love to hear how others have handled this! 🤔 #ExitInterview #CareerAdvice #WorkplaceChallenges #JobCareer

To be honest or not in my exit interview?

Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’ve been at my current job for 7 years, and in October, I took what seemed like a perfect new role. But things took a turn. Two months in, my original boss got promoted to the executive level, and I was assigned an interim boss while they searched for a new VP. That new VP started in late February, and let’s just say, he’s not a great fit. He’s harsh, berates the team constantly, and refuses to offer guidance. I’ve had breakdowns because of how he treats me, and it’s clear I’m not the only one feeling this way. I’ve found a new job that’s a promotion, and I plan to give my notice. They do exit interviews, and I’m torn about being honest. Should I tell them that the toxic boss and the last-minute change in leadership are why I’m leaving? Or should I just keep quiet? #ExitInterview #ToxicBoss #CareerChange #HonestyAtWork #WorkplaceDrama #JobCareer
