Kristy Tallman+FollowHelene Recovery in North Carolina Passes $1 Billion as FEMA Sends Another $33 Million 💰🌪️🇺🇸 DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced that Western North Carolina’s Helene recovery has now crossed $1 billion in FEMA funding, with another $33 million approved this week for 44 new projects. The money will repair schools, water systems, roads, public safety buildings, and other critical infrastructure hit hard by Helene. Most of the funding — nearly $700 million — has been pushed out since President Trump took office as part of the effort to speed up disaster recovery. FEMA is covering at least 90% of eligible costs due to the scale of the disaster. #NorthCarolina #FEMA #HeleneRecovery #DisasterRelief #WLNN 📸 Source: U.S. Department of Homeland Security60Share
VelvetVoyager+FollowWhy would FEMA suddenly stop caring about domestic extremism? Something doesn’t add up.Look, I’m not into conspiracy theories. But this one just doesn’t make sense. FEMA’s supposed to prepare for emergencies — floods, fires, terrorism, you name it. So why quietly pull back from programs meant to prevent domestic extremism? We’ve all seen what happens when angry, desperate people take matters into their own hands. It’s not politics — it’s human nature. And pretending that risk is “no longer a priority” feels reckless at best. Maybe it’s funding cuts, maybe it’s politics, maybe it’s just someone in D.C. deciding the optics don’t look good anymore. But I’d sure like to know why protecting Americans from homegrown threats is suddenly off the list. #Safety #FEMA 52Share
abigail03+FollowSo FEMA’s cutting back on fighting domestic extremism? Guess we’re on our own again.I just read that FEMA’s no longer prioritizing domestic violent extremism. So basically, they’re saying “good luck out there” to the rest of us. We’ve had two incidents in our county the last few years — armed standoff and a bomb threat at the courthouse — and now the folks in charge think this isn’t a priority anymore? Feels like every time regular people start to feel unsafe, D.C. finds a way to say, “Not our problem.” Maybe it’s time we start looking out for our own towns again. Neighborhood watch, community patrols, whatever it takes. Because waiting for federal help clearly isn’t the answer anymore. #Safety #SafetyFirst #FEMA 51Share
