Anyone else use a bobber just to map out the lake?
I used to think fishing was all about the right lure—turns out, learning the water matters just as much. This summer, I’ve been “mapping” my lake with a bobber, a light weight, and no hook, just to feel out depth changes, snags, and hidden logs. It’s slow, but it’s taught me where fish like to hang out.
And when I just want to see what’s out there, I throw on some hot dog pieces—small fish love them, and you can learn a lot from who bites. Funny enough, this has been more fun than I expected.
Anyone else scout water like this?
