A 64-year-old man who narrowly escaped the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center was tragically beaten to death by three teenagers in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, last month, authorities said. Roger Borkum, a Long Island native and former consultant who worked on the 77th floor of Tower 1, was found severely injured just before midnight on October 19, 2025, after being assaulted multiple times on Hogan Street. Borkum, who was homeless and a widower at the time, succumbed to his injuries four days later in a local hospital. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), surveillance footage and witness accounts showed the suspects kicking and stomping Borkum, rummaging through his backpack, and returning twice more to batter him over the course of about an hour, from approximately 9:44 p.m. to 10:48 p.m. The suspects, identified as Justin Curry (12 at the time of the attack, now 13), Marcavion Lacey (19), and Robert Pope (16 at the time, now possibly 17 based on varying reports), were arrested within hours. All three were indicted on murder charges by a Duval County grand jury on November 20, 2025. #Jacksonville #Florida #CentralFlorida #FloridaNews #FYPWorries #News

OCTOBER WAS THE END OF HER KILLING SPREE

Haunting Justice The Story of Aileen Wuornos In the shadow of Florida’s highways during the late 1980s, Aileen Wuornos became one of America’s most chilling real-life killers. Between 1989 and 1990, she murdered seven men while working as a prostitute, later claiming each act was self-defense against violent clients. Born into abuse and abandonment, Wuornos lived a life of homelessness and trauma before turning to survival sex work. Her rage and pain erupted into a deadly pattern that ended when she was arrested in 1991 after a nationwide manhunt. Convicted of multiple murders, Wuornos faced execution in 2002 at the Florida State Prison. Her story, later portrayed in the film Monster starring Charlize Theron, still echoes through true-crime history — a grim reminder of how horror and humanity can exist in the same person. In October, her tale feels especially haunting — a real monster born from tragedy. #TrueCrime #AileenWuornos #October #Florida #ChaunceyDatGuy
