As someone who LOVES roses, I’ve finally cracked the code for keeping them fresh for 10-15 days! 🌹 The secret? It’s all about properly waking up the flowers and giving them that one perfect water setup! Here’s what you need to do: Wake them up: No need to cut leaves or prick thorns. Just remove any damaged petals and leaves. Use tap water to wake them up. Make sure your flower bucket is tall enough for the roses to stand straight. Cut the stems at a 45° angle to help them drink up more water. Let them soak in the bucket for 4-6 hours (no longer than 12 hours). Care for them: Trim excess leaves (leave just 1-2). Use filtered or clean tap water in your vase (5-8 cm of water). Add a little plant food and a drop of bleach to keep the water clean. Don’t overcrowd the flowers and avoid direct sunlight. Key points: The outer petals are protective, don’t remove them. Never spray the flower heads with water—this can lead to rot. Keep the water level consistent and don’t change it. 📍 Location: 754 Wall St, Los Angeles, CA 90014 ⌚️ Time: Many stores close at 10am, so be sure to get there early! 💰Price: - Ecuadorian moonflowers at most stalls are priced at $20-$25 a bunch. - Peonies are a steal at $15 for 5 huge blooms, better value than TJ's. - Unfortunately, I got there too late and missed out on the legendary Holland and Mayesh stalls. According to the florists, Mayesh is a bit pricier with their flowers going for $30 to $40 per handful. 🌸 The LA Flower Market is a dream for flower lovers! It's much bigger than SF's, with two buildings to explore. And the best part? The prices are cheaper than what you'd find in SF. I came prepared with a big bucket from Home Depot, filled it with water, and had no problem driving six hours back to the Bay Area.
