How UH Mānoa freshmen found a new world in Japan

Imagine starting college by flying across the Pacific and diving into a totally different culture. That’s what 10 incoming UH Mānoa students did this summer, thanks to the Mānoa Academy Kagoshima program. They didn’t just earn credits—they built real friendships, learned about peace and leadership, and discovered how much we all have in common, no matter where we’re from.
