My dad was on the sidelines with a giant 90s camcorder on his shoulder, loudly singing “You’re the Best Around” from The Karate Kid and cheering me on like crazy. He spent money he didn’t really have to get me gear just because I was interested in it. He’d walk me to class three nights a week and carry me home on his shoulders because we didn’t have a car. A little girl was all dressed up and ready for a traditional Chilean dance performance — but at the last minute, her partner didn’t show. You can imagine the heartbreak and awkwardness for a child in that moment. But before she had to face that alone, her dad stepped in! He jumped in as her dance partner. It was sweet, graceful, and completely natural. In doing so, he turned what could’ve been a crushing memory into something she’ll likely treasure forever. 🥲🥹 I honestly think this is top-tier parenting.
