The SNAP/EBT issues? Not a new problem just poorly executed by bureaucrats making it a trap.
How does SNAP/EBT become a trap? Do an undercover check and just apply to go through the interview process and get the documentation given those who do recieve benefits.
The hidden side of SNAP/EBT benefits themselves? A person can purchase ANY food bearing type of plant or seed, but the information gets buried in the pamphlet toward the back, government personnel in the program don't always point that information out, often not having information on local community gardens which can be used, nor provide reminders from just before the planting season begins to help those people budget out to prepare for longer term and self renewing food supplies, and that is generally the issue at the state levels.
Local and county governments have consistently failed in helping by eliminating areas that can be used for such, with Public Housing, parks, amd even the ornamental spaces along roads by requiring use of ornamental plants in which they irrigated while disregarding potential use for food bearing ones with excuses and disregard for their poverty level citizens and complain about the nutritional deficiencies that exacerbate the medical issue those deficiencies cause so they complain about the lack of medical abilities for those areas.
To really drive the fact home in hoping people actually start attending their local meetings and demand repairs and changes, here is a major contention area and even proof of existing regukation that would help alleviate some of it that those idiots you vote into the council have outright ignored.... School Meals..
Where is the issue? Well, sure seems off that the USDA has had a Farm to School Meals Program and a previous infrastructure bills that does fund greenhousing for schools to teach the skills and help offset those funding needs for nutrition, while helping in other areas like Food Banks.
