Serving Tables, Missing Dad: Father’s Day Feels

Father’s Day in the restaurant world is wild—packed tables, endless orders, and everyone’s got their dad in tow. Last year was my first time working the holiday after losing mine. I thought I could handle it. Spoiler: I absolutely could not. Between delivering steaks and seeing all those family hugs, I was barely holding it together. At one point, I dropped a tray because my hands were shaking so much. A regular noticed and just gave me a knowing nod. Later, my manager slid me a free dessert and whispered, “Dead dad club, huh?
