Is "Best Before "a Food Waste ?
Ever stood in FreshCo, eyeing a loaf of bread just past its best before date, and wondered if you could snag it for half price?
The Canada Food Inspection Agency says, it's not illegal to sell food past its best before date, but it seems like FreshCo and Sobeys have their own rules.
From what I've seen, they pull those items off the shelves, even if someone would happily buy them at a discount.
Feels like a missed opportunity, right? Less food waste, more savings for us, and the store still makes a sale.
Maybe it’s a liability thing, or just company policy, but I’d love to see more flexibility.
