Bay Area Cuisine | Noren Izakaya: A Cozy Japanese-Style Yakitori Restaurant in San Francisco

Noren Izakaya is a hidden gem where you can gather with friends and enjoy an authentic Japanese atmosphere. The hand-drawn menu is charming, featuring illustrated chicken skewers and various dishes that pique my interest. Compared to other izakayas, the menu here is not extensive, but the quality is good. I highly recommend the Spicy Kimchi Stir-Fried Pork, as the tangy kimchi complements the skewers well. The Grilled Chicken Skin is incredibly crispy and the crispiest I've ever had. The Sashimi is optional and nothing to write home about. As for the Yakitori skewers: - Almost all of them are delicious, especially the ones with organ meats. - The grilled mushrooms are flavorful and tasty. - The grilled scallops are a must-try, they are huge! - I had high expectations for the Bacon-wrapped Mochi, but it turned out to be way too salty. - The Beef Tongue is fantastic! It has a tender and crispy texture. - Even the simplest Chicken Wings are incredibly delicious! Overall, this place is perfect for a casual gathering with friends, with its authentic Japanese style and attention to detail that captures the essence of Japanese culture. The bar area itself exudes the same charm. #BayAreaLife #WeekendInBayArea #GlobalFoodies #Yakitori #BayAreaCuisine #SiliconValleyFood #FoodieLife #ProductRecommendation #JapaneseGrilledBird #JapaneseIzakaya #MustVisitYakitoriRestaurant #HiddenGem

Pacific Bay Coffee in Walnut Creek, the Shanghai-style cafe

Big thanks to the buddy who recommended this gem! Finally got to visit this coffee house run by Shanghai folks in Walnut Creek. Been around Walnut Creek for ages so why have I not been here before? The reason: their opening hours; weekdays 6:30 am-3:00 pm, Saturdays 6:30 am-2:00 pm, and closed on Sundays. When I'm free, they're closed, so naturally, our paths didn't cross lol! But today, thanks to taking my pupper to the vet, I managed to grab a coffee during their opening hours! What I ordered: *Caramel Latte, $5.85/16oz! As anticipated, the coffee brewed by Chinese folks doesn't have such a strong Italian taste; it's subtly aromatic, merging with fresh milk and caramel, slightly sweet, really loved it! *Morning Glory Bread, $4.95! A healthy grain bread mixed with raisins, carrots, apples, and sunflower seeds, goes very well with coffee! Had a good look around the cafe and noticed quite a few awards on the wall. Turns out they have their own coffee roasting machine (see image 2, quite impressive), and their coffees have won several awards. If any buddies nearby are interested, you should give it a try, it’s our valley's hidden gem [blushReaction]! πŸ“Pacific Bay Coffee Co. 1495 Newell Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 #PacificBayCoffee #WalnutCreek #ShanghaiStyleCafe #HiddenGem #CoffeeLovers #AwardWinningCoffee #MorningGloryBread #CaramelLatte
