ruby’s first big hike up cascade mountain

We finally took Ruby, our little rescue pup, on her first real hike up Cascade Mountain in the Adirondacks. The morning was chilly, and the trail was covered in those crunchy leaves that make every step sound like you’re sneaking snacks in a movie theater. Ruby was so excited she kept zigzagging, sniffing every rock and root. We’d heard this trail was beginner-friendly, but honestly, my knees were arguing with that review about halfway up. I kept wondering if I’d ever see the summit or just collapse into a pile of granola bars. When we finally made it to the top, the view was breathtaking—rolling hills, fiery fall colors, and a sky so clear you could see forever. Ruby looked so proud, but I was mostly thinking about how my legs were going to feel tomorrow. Has anyone else tried hiking with a dog who’s more energetic than you? Did you regret it halfway through, or was it worth it for the view? I’m torn between feeling accomplished and wondering if I’m just getting too old for this kind of adventure. The scenery was amazing, but my knees are sending me angry messages today. #hikingwithdogs #adirondacks #cascadeMountain #Travel
