When life becomes difficult, we often find ourselves longing for relief. We pray for the pain to end, the struggle to pass, and the breakthrough to arrive. It is natural to look ahead for a brighter day. Yet, one of the greatest truths of our faith is that God does not simply wait for us at the finish line—He walks with us through every step of the journey.
Many people picture God as the light at the end of the tunnel, waiting for them once the hardship is over. But Scripture reveals something even more comforting. God is the light in the tunnel. He is present in the darkness, in the uncertainty, and in the moments when we feel overwhelmed. His presence does not depend on our circumstances improving. He is with us right now.
David wrote in Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Notice that God did not remove the valley immediately. Instead, He walked with David through it. God’s presence became the source of courage and peace.
If you are facing suffering today, remember that God sees your tears, hears your prayers, and understands your pain. He has not abandoned you. He is closer than you realize. The same God who promises victory is also the God who provides strength for today.
Do not measure God’s love by the absence of trouble. Measure it by His faithful presence in the middle of it. The tunnel may feel dark, but His light is shining around you, guiding you, sustaining you, and reminding you that you are never alone.
