According to prosecutors, 16-year-old Grace Ryan died in March from aspiration pneumonia related to chronic alcohol use. Investigators found 173 empty alcohol bottles hidden in her bedroom and allege her mother, Gretchen Ryan, regularly arranged for alcohol to be delivered to the home. Authorities say Grace repeatedly told her mother she was vomiting blood, struggling to walk, having trouble eating, and feared she was going to die. Despite those warnings, investigators allege no medical help was sought. Prosecutors also claim the mother concealed Grace’s alcohol use from her father and frequently drank alcohol and used marijuana with her daughter. Gretchen Ryan is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.
