hiking in kashmir: breathtaking views, but is it worth the hassle?
Last month, I finally convinced my husband to join me on a hiking trip in Kashmir, India. We’d seen all those stunning photos online—snow-capped mountains, wildflower meadows, and crystal-clear lakes. I thought, how hard could it be? Well, let me tell you, it was a real adventure. We spent hours trying to find a reliable guide, and the language barrier made it even trickier. At one point, we ended up in a tiny village where nobody spoke English, and we had to use hand gestures just to ask for directions. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, but I couldn’t help but wonder if all the planning, jet lag, and constant worry about safety were really worth it. Have you ever traveled somewhere that looked perfect in photos but turned out to be way more complicated than you expected? I’m starting to think those Instagram shots don’t tell the whole story. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of a walk in our local park, where the only thing I have to worry about is forgetting my water bottle.
