Vanilla Extract in Drinks?!
Vanilla extract is one of those ingredients that just calls to me. The smell alone brings back memories of baking cookies and cakes, and yeah, I’ve definitely been tempted to sneak a little into my drinks. But after reading the label and seeing that it’s 35% alcohol, it made me pause. I mean, that’s more than some liquors!
I tried adding a tiny bit—like half a teaspoon—to my hot chocolate once, and the flavor was unreal. But knowing what’s actually in it, I can’t help but feel a little weird about using it regularly, especially at my age. It’s not like I’m trying to get buzzed or anything, but it’s wild to think something so innocent in the kitchen packs that much punch. I guess for now, I’ll stick to vanilla-flavored syrups or powders. They don’t have that same kick, but at least there’s no second-guessing. Food is wild sometimes—the things you find out when you actually read the label!
