Kyoto Was Beautiful. I Wasn’t Present.

Everyone says Kyoto is magic. I believed them, so I booked the ticket, mapped the shrines, and tried to make my photos look like something worth remembering. But standing under cherry blossoms, all I could think about was how tired I was—of moving, of pretending to be awed, of chasing some version of myself I thought I’d find here. I kept waiting for the city to crack me open. Instead, I just felt like a tourist with a camera roll full of proof I’d been somewhere.
