Lafayette Reservoir Travelogue - The Best Fishing Spot in The Bay Area

Weekly hiking, today's recommendation is Lafayette Reservoir in the affluent town! It's perfect for walking children and dogs, fishing, and boating - a multi-purpose reservoir! However, you can't swim as it serves as the drinking water reservoir for Contra Costa residents. Pros: * Beautiful scenic views with sunshine and shade. Hiking on flat ground is effortless! * It's a great place for fishing. The water quality is touted as the best in the bay area and yields top-grade edible fish, with most weighing 2-3 lbs! * Affordable. Both people and dogs get in for free, parking is $1.5/hr, and paddle boats are $15/hr. The longer you boat, the cheaper it gets - $35/5hrs, the lowest rate in the Bay Area! See image 6 for detailed fees. * Fully equipped facilities, including large and small parking lots throughout the park. If you don't want to walk, you can drive straight in, making it extremely convenient! * A final plus point: It's peaceful and less crowded! Visiting on weekdays is practically like reserving the whole place! In summary: A great place to exercise your legs, walk your kids, and run your dogs! ๐Ÿ“Lafayette Reservoir 3849 Mt Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549 #LafayetteReservoir #BestFishingSpot #BayArea #AffordableOutdoorActivity #PeacefulRetreat #ScenicViews #FamilyFriendly #ConvenientFacilities

Beginner's Fishing Summary Post: Major Showdown at the Four Lakes of East Bay ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŒž

All aboard, rookie fishermen! Here's a summary of some of the best freshwater fishing spots in East Bay! Ranked based on my personal preference: 1. Lafayette Reservoir The water quality here is top-tier. If you fish to eat, this place is highly recommended! Variety of fish here is diverse, including both small and large ones. The red-fleshed trout is especially delectable! However, it's tough to catch big fish here, although small to medium sizes bite more often. 2. Lake Chabot This lake has the broadest range of fish species, including all the species in these four lakes! The water quality is decent, and the fish are edible. It's also easier to bait the big fish here! It's a well-rounded lake, having the advantages of other lakes without standing out in any one area. 3. Lake Temescal This lake is perfect for beginners, dominated by small fish that easily bite. If you're taking your kids for a fishing trip, this place is recommended as they will feel more accomplished. The water quality is average, so it's better to keep the caught fish as pets. Better not eat them! Be aware, blue-green algae were detected last month, so be cautious if you bring your pet dogs. If they consume it, it could be fatal. 4. San Pablo Reservoir This is the largest lake, and the fish here are also the biggest among the four lakes! The water quality is OK, and the fish are edible. However, it's more suitable for pros because larger (smart and wily) fish are harder to catch! Summary: *Water & fish meat quality: Lafayette>San Pablo>Chabot>Temescal *Ease of biting: Temescal>Chabot>Lafayette>San Pablo *Fish size: San Pablo>Chabot>Lafayette>Temescal *Lake size: San Pablo>Chabot>Lafayette>Temescal Apart from these four freshwater fishing lakes in East Bay, there are two other well-received spots: Lake Del Valley and Contra Loma Reservoir! These places are a bit too far for me, so I've never actually been. If you're interested, feel free to check them out! #EastBayFishing #FreshwaterFishing #LafayetteReservoir #LakeChabot #LakeTemescal #SanPabloReservoir #LakeDelValley #ContraLomaReservoir
