Georgia lakes get a green makeover
Georgia’s lakes aren’t just being stocked with fish—they’re getting thousands of new aquatic plants, too! The DNR’s Fisheries team has been hard at work planting water willow, maiden cane, and eelgrass to help stabilize banks, fight erosion, and create better fish habitats. Thanks to their greenhouse (built with Yamaha’s help), nearly 18,000 plants went into Georgia waters last year. If you’re fishing this summer, you might notice healthier shorelines and more fish hiding spots. Plus, the new hunting and fishing regulations are out, and there’s a Braves game night for outdoor fans coming up. What changes have you noticed at your favorite fishing spot lately?
