California Wildflower Superbloom Meets Lake Views
This has to be the ceiling of the Southern California wildflower superbloom! There's a wide variety of wildflowers here, not just poppies, but also loads of tiny yellow flowers, deep purple ones, and light purple ice plants. On the other side of the mountain top, there's a crystal clear blue lake. From afar, the whole mountain range, primarily in deep green with hints of orange-yellow and piercing purple, is like a series of Monet masterpieces.
This valley has three trails, with the Loop Trial being the most recommended. It's about 2 miles long and takes a little over an hour to complete. About 15 minutes into the walk, you'll see a fork with three paths and the latest map. The left two trails lead to the lake or uphill respectively. The uphill trail on the left is particularly recommended because it's not too steep, offers fantastic photo ops, and the further you walk, the more abundant and dense the flowers become. This is also part of the previously mentioned Loop Trail. Straight ahead is another uphill trail, which is steeper and best taken on the way down.
Entry is $11 per car, $4 per person. Cash is recommended for direct payment at the parking entrance. If you don't have cash, go to the store located inside the parking area. The store is located directly across from the trailhead, you can queue for parking and buy tickets.
The trails here are exposed with little shade, so sunscreen and water are essential. Fortunately, the wind isn't strong, providing great conditions for photographs. Respect the nature -- avoid stepping on or picking the flowers; they look great in photos just along the trail. Dogs are not allowed on the trail, but strollers can be used.
