This 18-year-old inherited a house but their mom is stealing their money

I just saw a post from an 18-year-old who inherited their dad's house and all his possessions. My heart just sank reading it. The parents divorced a long time ago which meant the mom had no legal claim to any of the inheritance. For some reason the mom has acted like she owns everything. This kid is trying to figure out how to be an adult but their own mother is making it impossible. The mom has access to all of their money and is using it to pay off her own credit cards. The post said she has spent almost thirteen thousand dollars of the kid's inheritance just on herself. She also refuses to teach them anything about how to manage the house or pay bills. She even threatens to leave them if they try to gain any independence. This young person is absolutely terrified their mother is going to somehow take claim over their house and car. They need real professional advice on how to get out of this situation safely. This is completely unacceptable. I am hoping there are some legal experts or people who have been through this who can offer serious guidance. #Inheritance #FinancialAbuse #FamilyProblems #LegalAdvice #HelpNeeded #Adulting #RedFlags #FamilyRelationships #Family

🛑 the ONE traffic rule you probably didn't know existed

Everyone knows you can turn right on a red light after you stop and check for traffic. It's so common we don't even think about it. But a lot of people don't know that in most of America, you can actually turn left on a red light. The rule is that you have to be turning from a one-way street onto another one-way street. You still have to come to a complete stop first, just like with a right turn. The only exceptions are a handful of states like Connecticut, New Jersey, and a few others, and also New York City and Washington DC. A few states also let you make a left on a red light onto a one-way street from either a one-way or two-way street. The whole concept of this isn't exactly common knowledge, so be prepared for some funny looks or a few honks from other drivers. 😂 I just want to know if anyone has actually done this #TrafficLaw #RoadSafetyConcerns #Discussion #LegalAdvice #RedLight

I spent $2000 cleaning my new house because the seller left it a mess. Can I get my money back?

I am a first time homebuyer and I think I just got completely taken advantage of. The seller of my new home was 97 years old and her daughter handled the move. The contract said the house would be "broom clean" when they left. They ended up moving out a week early, which seemed great at the time. However, I opened the door, and found a disaster. The basement was floor to ceiling with old boxes and moldy junk. There was even rotten food left in the fridge. My friends and I had to spend about 30 hours cleaning and hauling everything out! It cost me about 2000 dollars just for the dumpster and professional cleaners. I reached out to the daughter to see if she would compensate me since they did not fulfill the contract. She told me she did not owe me anything because they did me a favor by leaving early! She has not replied to me since. I want to take them to small claims court but I am running into some major issues. The contract is in the name of the 97 year old not her daughter and I would feel terrible going after her. I also do not have the daughter's address since she is not replying. My realtor has also been completely useless and is not responding to me. I have no idea what to do. I'm located in Ohio. I would love any advice on who I can pursue here or how to even get the info I need to start a lawsuit. 😭😡 #FirstTimeHomebuyer #RealEstate #LegalAdvice #Scam #HelpNeeded #SmallClaims #RealtorNightmare #HomeOwnership

what docs do I need to bring to my lawyer for divorce? 😳

I’m gearing up to meet with a lawyer about my divorce, and honestly, I have no clue what to bring beyond the basics. Obviously, I’ll bring bank statements and tax returns. But what else? So I’m gearing up to meet with a lawyer about my divorce, and honestly, I have no clue what to bring beyond the basics. Obviously, I’ll bring bank statements and tax returns. But what else? Here’s the situation: we both have our own cars, there’s about $30,000 left on the mortgage, and we have a 10-year-old child. No student loans. My income is $80,000, while his is $60,000. After taxes and expenses, we each clear about $50,000. He works for a union, and I run my own business. I want to make sure I’m fully prepared and don’t miss anything important. What should I have ready to discuss with the lawyer, aside from the usual financial stuff? #divorceprep #legaladvice #coparenting

Should I Pay For Half Of My Neighbor's Fence Staining Cost?

My neighbor is a pain to deal with and has been talking smack about us on the neighborhood Facebook page. We have not been approached directly about this issue but she is now alleging we owe her half the cost of some fence repairs and staining. She says she and the previous owners agreed to a half and half split of maintaining it. Nothing of this sort was discussed with us at closing. For context the fence is two sided for most of their front yard. The only part of the fence that is on our side is our two gates. Once their back yard starts the fence becomes a shared fence separating our backyards. We have not seen any repairs on the fence in the three years we have lived here. I am just trying to get some advice before she approaches us about staining the front of her fence. #NeighborProblems #Fence #HOA #HomeOwnership #AdviceNeeded #Suburbs #Etiquette #LegalAdvice
